Wanna know a secret?
Speaking well isn't reserved for those that are 'born with it', have a theatre degree or are extroverts. Nope. The ability to own your words, your voice and your presence are available to anyone. It just takes focused work and time - and sometimes, someone to help you along the way - like me :-)
Spoken Arts (also known as Speech and Drama, Elocution, Oratory, Rhetoric, and Oral Interpretation, among others) has been regarded as a critical discipline for thousands of years in Western civilization. Yet, we don’t seem to value it in our educational systems, beyond “give a speech”, “do a book report”, “join the debate club” or “do a digital presentation”. We value it conceptually, yes: but we don’t teach it - and that leaves an enormous opportunity for anyone who does master the skills.
Over the past 27 years, I have developed and honed my craft, innovating and creating both with and for people - those who want to find their own unique voices, and those who want to bring another voice to the table (mine!). It is definitely not a 'one size fits all' approach.
Using literature, creative storytelling and impromptu speaking, current research and old-school elocution techniques, I help those I work with realise their spoken potential - and, as a speaker myself, I employ these same tools to bring my passion and messages to others. Employing innovative teaching techniques, meeting the learner where they're at, and sharing my sense of humour leads to a synergy that creates magic - of the social communication type! (put your wands away ;-) )
One thing you'll be 100% sure of every time you work with me: You get my best as I strive to help you achieve your best. Welcome!
